eLTER TA site

Cairngorms is part of the Burnsmuir & Cairngorms LTSER platform TA site, which comprises two separate but linked sites in Scotland. Burnsmuir is close to Edinburgh, and contains two established research locations, Whim Bog and the Auchencorth Moss atmospheric observatory and carbon catchment study area. The Scottish landscapes have a linked gradient from lowland to highland ecosystems. Scientific focus: Biosphere-atmosphere interactions, ecosystem emissions and deposition of pollutants.

The other component of this eLTER TA site is Burnsmuir, which is further south near Edinburgh, and comprises two facilities, Whim Bog and Auchencorth Moss.
