Mountains Under Watch is an interdisciplinary conference that aims at bringing together scientists and experts working in the diverse fields of climate change studies in mountain areas around the world. The specific goal of the conference is to share experiences, methods and strategies for long term observations and monitoring of the climate change effects on different alpine environments ranging from the cryosphere to the biosphere.
Mark Williams will give a keynote address "Towards establishing a mountain Long Term Ecological Research Network (mLTER) to address resilience and sustainability of complex mountain landscapes". Mark is Fellow at the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, Professor of Geography, at the University of Colorado and Principal Investigator of the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Reasearch site (US LTER).
The conference is followed on 22 February by a post-conference workshop of the International Mountain LTER network. For details of this workshop see: http://www.muw2013.it/post-conference-workshop/. This workshop is co-organised by LTER-Italy.
