LTER-Europe launches online map of its sites

A new online interface enables people to explore LTER sites in Europe

LTER-Europe launches online map of its sites

LTER-Europe's map interface is a good way to explore the sites in the network

It is now possible to explore the sites in the LTER-Europe network via an online map. The tool displays site locations in a standard Google Maps interface. By hovering over a site location, basic data about the site is displayed, such as its area, altitudinal range and biogeographic zone. In some cases a link is provided to the LTER-Europe member's website where more site details can be found. The LTER-Europe map provides a means for anyone wishing to gain a first impression about a site and should be of interest to those who want to explore the research potential of the sites. It is hoped to further develop the map interface, for example by adding site boundaries. Further meta data on LTER-Europe sites can be obtained via the InfoBase online database.
