LTER-Europe project involvements

This section provides information about projects with LTER-Europe involvement:

  1. The majority of LTER projects in Europe are site-specific or involve a small number of sites (see national networks)
  2. At the network level LTER-Europe engages in the following projects:

Current projects

Emerging projects (submitted)

  • EcoBioERA (FP7, EraNET, lead: CNR/IT)

EnvEurope (LIFE+)

EnvEurope logoThe EnvEurope project was started by, and is being developed within, LTER-Europe, which represents more than 400 sites across Europe.

LIFE-plus logoThe project will contribute to the integration and coordination of long-term ecological research and monitoring initiatives at European level, focusing on understanding the status, changes and trends of ecosystems, with an integrated broad-scale and cross-domain (terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems) strategy, combining the efforts of 11 countries and of at least 67 sites belonging to the LTER-Europe network.

Using LTER sites and platforms for research

ExPeER logoMany LTER sites and LTSER platforms - and the data collected at them - represent unique research resources. Through the EXPEER project (which started in January 2011), access to a selection of these sites will be provided via a Trans-National Access programme.

Access to some arctic and sub-arctic sites is also possible via the EU INTERACT project's TNA programme (watch for specific calls). You can read more about LTER-Europe's sites and platforms and contact member networks or the LTER secretariat to enquire about research possibilities at LTER-Europe sites.
