In 2011, was organise the first international conference on Spatial Ecology & Conservation (SEC1). Over 200 scientists and conservation practitioners from around the world came to discuss and evaluate the latest advances in spatial ecology and associated technologies, and how these could best be deployed to underpin conservation (see the SEC1 proceedings). At that first meeting, they agreed to hold a conference every three years to report progress, assess needs and present new findings.
Now, conference committee, invite to second international meeting: Spatial Ecology & Conservation (SEC2).
SEC2 conference themes:
Advances in mapping and analysing terrestrial and marine systems
Understanding species’ distributions
Training and professional development
Realising the full potential of remotely sensed data for conservation
Decision support tools for conservation
Selecting and designating Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
The conference committee is now calling for abstracts for oral presentations, posters and training events within the core conference themes. The proceedings will be published in the international journal Ecological Informatics.
The submission deadline is Friday 21 February 2014
