Training workshop on ecosystem monitoring & management is aimed at developing countries

ILTER partners, CERN, are looking for 24 applicants for a forthcoming training workshop in China. The closing date for applying is 15 September

The Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN), the International Ecosystem Management Partnership (IEMP) and ILTER are jointly organizing a Training Workshop with the financial support from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Advanced Training Workshop on Ecosystem Monitoring and Management for Developing Countries will be held on 1-18th November 2014 in Suzhou and Beijing, China. The major themes are Long-term Ecosystem Monitoring & Network Research, Data Management and Sharing, Ecosystem Management for Sustainability.

The three major components of the Training Workshop are:

  • Ecosystem monitoring and management, and ecosystem monitoring indicators and technical protocols in Suzhou; Field trip at Tai Lake Station and Changshu Agriculture Station of CERN;
  • International Conference on South-South Cooperation on Climate Change in Beijing;
  • Sustainable ecosystems management and lessons learned; Field trip at Beijing Forest Station of CERN.


The course organisers wish to recruit 24 participants, young scientists and practitioners and focusing on ecosystem monitoring and management in developing countries (including South East Asia, Central Asia and Africa). Applicants from developing countries can apply for fellowship if necessary. If you know anyone who may be interested in this course, please let them know as soon as possible.
