eLTER societal & research challenges |
1.1 | societal and research challenges Horizon scanning - report describing a horizon scanning exercise to to identify emerging research questions that environmental scientists think need to be considered for future ecosystem research infrastructure development |
1.2 | societal and research challenges - eLTER capability Methodology development and preliminary assessment of eLTER performance - To create a framework for assessing the performance of the infrastructure, the development of an appropriate methodology is mandatory. In this deliverable the proposed methodology is described and a preliminary performance assessment is conducted |
1.3 | societal and research challenges - eLTER capability Report on eLTER performance assessment and strategic recommendations - An assessment of the performance of the eLTER RI, using two independent assessments, the eLTER Service Assessment/Network Performance analysis and a SWOT analysis |

network design
Blueprint concept of the integrated eLTER Research Infrastructure under special consideration of critical zone research requirements - Presents eLTER infrastructure requirements from a natural-scientific requirements point of view and suggestions for a standard observation program. The eLTER RI specific design and implementation were carried further in the proposal for an eLTER RI to the ESFRI Roadmap in August 2017, which was accepted in June 2018.
Note: For coherent reading, this deliverable includes D04.1 which appears as the chapter 'Frameworks for standard observations and analysis of representativeness'

3.1 | data systems Data integration - eLTER data integration. State of the art and requirements |
3.2 | data systems Governance and data policy for sharing and publishing of data - Contains an evaluation of existing data policies, in order to develop the eLTER Data Policy. Also addresses governance issues of common data sharing principles, and how these will be approached in eLTER. Finally, basic high-level 'user stories' are defined as a basis for evaluating system architectures and tools. |
3.3 | data systems Data models - metadata models for the documentation of sites, datasets and sensors; data formats applied for the provision of time series data; development of a common semantics |
