Fruška Gora is an isolated, narrow, island mountain in the Pannonia plain. The infrastructure includes three research localities within the National Park, established to investigate how climate change and air pollution impact the structure, function and biodiversity of forest and steppe ecosystems. Scientific focus: Mt. Fruška Gora follows the best European practices currently incorporated in the framework of the International Cooperative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Forest operating under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution. At the site, researchers conduct projects on biodiversity and ecology of forest-associated Diptera, using model groups as bio-indicators, towards the conservation of model groups, including genetic status of some genera and their conservation implications, and modelling current and future species distributions.
